Message for My People was the breath of fresh air I needed.Kayla Jones is a very young college aged poet.She wrote of her living observations in her young age of navigating life.Youthful idealism and hope were key takeaways from this young writer.Her poetry book was artful, thoughtful, intelligent and inspirational.She pays tribute to her people, within the Black diaspora/community.Poems gave voice to Black History, arts, women, men, Black Culture, responsibility, perseverance, friendship, and so much more.This was a very short read but superb in every way.I tend to be harder on younger writer's because there's so much more for them to experience.What I admired about Jones is she isn't afraid to be exactly who she is. A young writer with confidence but unafraid to wear her heart on her sleeve.Poetry books are risky, you either work hard to be someone else or you truly place all caution to the wind, and say, world this is who I am.Jones was the latter. I thoroughly enjoyed Message for My People. Highly recommended and 5-Stars is what this presentation deserves.
